Live Sports
Our Tradition
In the 11 years since its conception, Live Sports has proven itself to be a foundation
for programming at Texas Student Television and ranks as one of the most highly respected programs.
As a crew memeber, you should feel the utmost honor to be trusted with upholding
the Live Sports tradition of producing quality programming. Because Live Sports
is entirely student run and student produced, all crew members should take pride in, as well as
accountablility for, the product created. Accordingly, the producers of Live Sports
expect each crew memeber to maintain a certain level of professionalism and
responsiblity towards the shows.
Professionalism is Key
While we are here to learn and have fun, we still expect everyone to maintain the same
air of professionalism as you would at any other job. We do have fun during braodcasts, and we do
try to keep the mood as light as we can, but we can't do that if everyone isn't taking the
job at hand seriously. Remember, when we are on the fields, we are serving as media representatives,
alongside other professional organizations such as Fox Sports Net, ESPN, and CSTV;
therefore we chould act the part.
Ask questions, be there to learn
Texas Student Television's sole purpose a The University of Texas at Austin is to
prepare you for a career in the broadcast or production industry. We want each and
every one of you to learn everything you can about what we do. If there is anything that
you do not understand, please ask us. As the show progresses, several of you may want to step
up and possibly lead Live Sports for future years; but the only way that can happen will be if
you know the ins and outs of the production.
Most importantly: have fun!
The main draw that keeps people coming back to each and every game is the fact that
we have a lot of fun. It's high intensity, the adrenaline is running, everyone is pumped -
it's a great sporting event. We don't want you to get wrapped up completely in the
production side of the show; if you make mistakes, don't panic. Have fun! We
pride ourselves on the level of camaraderie that comes out of the Live Sports department,
and we attribute that to the laid back approach we take to each braodcast.
